I wanted to do a zine because there were so many topics covered in class that I think are important to introduce to a larger audience. I have promoted this class a lot to my peers and even my parents, especially when the topic of AI is brought up. A zine allows me to have an easily accessible and visually appealing format to present what I learned in this class to people outside of it, without forcing them to listen to me talk on and on. I picked Frankenstein, Minority Report, Prometheus, and Epimetheus because I really resonated with how inherently human AI as a problem really is. These stories are so old, and yet they resonate on such a deep level regarding AI, especially on the topics of autonomy, bias, and labor. I hope that through the use of physical media, I am able to hand these out to peers and mentors alike to push these topics into the mainstream. I hope to explore how AI works and how LLMs are trained on users’ data, and explore how human the problems with AI truly are.
